Granite is the second hardest stone after diamonds and is therefore an extremely durable material and an excellent choice for countertops and vanities. With its high gloss finish and dense composition, it is the perfect choice for wet areas, kitchen bar areas. From a practicality stand point it is a wise choice. Granite is less expensive than Sorrell and Corian, it's very durable (can sustain placement of hot pots on it)--with the proper care and maintenance it should last a lifetime.
